Spring in Virginia can sometimes be unpredictable, but Blake and Michelle could not have had better weather for their March wedding. Although it was a bit blustery, no amount of wind could blow out their flame in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Early Mountain Vineyard was a perfect backdrop for them to say their vows and start their life together.
Each part of their wedding day had sentimentality sprinkled throughout. The garter that Michelle wore, Blake caught at a wedding they attended together after just a couple weeks of dating. He kept it and it became a part of their special day as well. The music played by the band throughout the ceremony and reception was a tribute to Michelle’s father’s love of classic rock bands.
Blake and Michelle met after the Virginia Gold Cup, a horse race in Orlean, Virginia. They incorporated horses into their engagement session, and we almost had the opportunity to do the same on their wedding day. Unfortunately, we realized that what we thought was a horse was actually a donkey once we got close enough to see!
The ceremony and reception décor was inspired by Virginia wineries. Long garland lined the main reception table while the smaller tables adorned bouquets with white anemones and pops of purple. With the bridesmaids sporting jean jackets over their morning mist gowns, Blake and Michelle’s day was the perfect mixture of elegant and relaxed, just like them!
